Authorities warn of fraud schemes and computer theft of Albanian bank accounts details

Tirana Police has appealed to citizens to be careful of phone numbers that contact the citizens on social networks, as a new fraud scheme to steal bank account data.

According to the police, messages disguised as those from the Meta company have been found, sent to phone numbers allegedly for the confirmation of data on the Facebook social network, related to the Facebook Ads service, as well as other techniques.

These messages claim to verify Facebook accounts saying that ‘otherwise the account will be closed.’

These messages aim to direct account holders to fraudulent links in order to take possession of the accounts of defrauded persons, the officials warn.

“The Department for the Investigation of Cybercrimes in DVP Tirana calls on you, if you suspect that you may be affected by the sending of these messages come to our offices, and advises you not to take any action against these messages, which they can come from mainly foreign numbers”, the police informs.
