Authorities carry out joint anti-drugs operation with Italy / 16 arrested, two in Albania

Albanian police have provided details from the large anti-drug operation “Rivera”, conducted simultaneously in Italy and Albania, where it is reported that 16 people have been handcuffed, 14 in Italy and 2 in Albania.

The operation was launched in 2018, to crack down on criminal groups involved in international drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.

Operation “Riviera”, initiated by the Regional Anti-Mafia Office in Bologna, in cooperation with the Special Operations Group (ROS) of the Carabinieri in Bologna, Italy, aimed to crack down on an organized criminal group, composed mainly of Albanian citizens trafficking narcotics in the Emilia Romagna region in Italy.

The police announces that in Albania 2 persons were arrested for the purpose of extradition to Italy, Albanian citizens E. H., 40 years old and J. D. (M.), 28 years old.
