The Austrian Prime Minister, Sebastian Kurz, said that the EU should open the accession negotiations with Albania and Macedonia the soonest possible.
Kurz said for Austrian newspaper Die Presse that this is necessary to avoid conflicts in Western Balkan and to offer the region a European perspective.
Austria supports Serbia and Montenegro as well, and says that other Western Countries should also have the accession negotiations.
Kurz referred to the declarations of the French President, Emanuel Macron, who said that the more distant the EU accession possibilities seem in Western Balkan, the higher are chances for an meddling from Russia and Turkey.
