Arta Dade, chairwoman of the Parliamentary Commission of Foreign
Affairs, said that the increased number of Albanian asylum seekers in
Netherlands is an issue that needs urgent addressing.

The Deputy Foreign Minister, Halil Hyseni, said that the higher number of Albanian asylum seekers is noted now due to the lower number of Syrians, Somali, Eritrean, Afghani, after the closed border with Greece.

“1500 Albanians have applied for asylum until February 2016. Many of these people have arrived from Albania but also from other European countries where they applied”, said Halil Hyseni.

Stefan Cipa, the Deputy Minister of Interior, said that the higher number of asylum seekers in Netherlands comes in a time when the options for asylum in Germany have been zeroed. But, the member of this commission, Jozefina Topalli, ties these numbers with the economic hardship of Albania, and appeals for protests.

“This country is over! We are running towards an abyss and we need an immediate solution. The only way is to combine protests in every city with the parliamentary battle for this major issue”, said the Democratic Party MP, Jozefina Topalli.
