The High EU representative, Catherine Ashton, declared that the next two weeks are key for the dialogue in Brussels.
“We have travelled to Balkan to support the dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade, and I want to value the bravery of those people in Prishtina and Belgrade who were able to leave history aside and come together. I want to tell them that the next two weeks are essential”, Ashton declared.
Ashton is expected to mediate the first meeting between the Presidents of Kosovo and Serbia, Jahjaga-Nikoliç, and the meeting of the Prime Ministers Thaçi-Daçiç, on 22 February.
Ashton announced an invitation she sent to the presidents of Kosovo and Serbia about the meeting of February 6th.
“The high representative, Catherine Ashton, has invited Presidents Nikolic and Jahjaga in the meeting of February sixth. The meetings are held for the normalization of relations between the two countries”, the communication says.
This meeting will mark the first handshake between the presidents of Kosovo and Serbia, while the Prime Ministers have continued their monthly dialogue, mainly focused on the Northern Kosovo issue.
