Arta Marku not present at Vetting process

The Albanian Prosecutor General, Arta Marku, did not appear at the hearing session for her Vetting process.

Her absence disappointed not only the Vetting panel but also the representative of the International Monitoring Operation, Teo Jacobs, who said that this showed a lack of leadership from Marku’s part.

Despite being the most important person of the Prosecution, Marku didn’t come up to the Vetting panel. She was represented by her closest people, Besnik Cami, Alketa Zifla and Denion Ndrenika.

Marku owns two apartments, together with her husband, and an added building of nine square meters. She is waiting to have it legalized.

The biggest question is not if Marku will pass the Vetting Law, but whether she is capable to be the no.1 of the Prosecution.

The Vetting law members focused on the extreme request to hold in prison citizen A.P, who was stopped by the police for not having his vehicle documents in order. Marku asked two years in prison for him, without arguing the strong request.

The Prosecutor avoided not only the Vetting panel, but also the media.
