Arrests over corruption

The Kosovo Police arrested some Kosovo Privatization Agency employees,
who are suspected of power abuse during the privatization of the
Podujeva “FAN” plant.

One of the suspects is a LDK Parliament Member, Naser Osmani, who was member of the Board of Directors of the Agency.

Police sources say that Osmani has not been arrested, while officers have searched his house early this morning.

Among the suspects are the vice managing director of the Kosovo Privatization Agency, Naim Avdiu; former leader of the monitoring unit, Melita Ymeraga; unit director for liquidations, Ardian Kelmendi, and the responsible for the monitoring of the FAN plant, Nehat Islami. The suspects were arrested at their workplaces this morning,

Sources say that 17 people have been involved, including foreign Kosovo Privatization Agency employees from the international community. The Police operation has continued even in Podujeva, where the plant is located. This plant was privatized in 2006.
