Arrested 43-year-old internationally wanted for terrorism, matchmaker of ISIS fighters

Albanian State Police informs that in cooperation with the Italian authorities, Interpol and the Anti-Terror Directorate, have handcuffed a 43-year-old woman internationally wanted for participating in an organization with terrorist purposes.

The suspect is Albanian national Lubjana Gjeçaj, declared internationally wanted by the Italian justice authorities.

Gjeçaj was an immigrant in Italy and is suspected as part of a radical group. She is accused of recruiting fighters for the Islamic State of ISIS and also finding wives for them.

After many months of investigation in an extensive operation in several cities in Italy and in Lushnja, Albania, 10 people were arrested, of which 4 Italians, 5 Albanians and 1 Canadian.

Albanians part of this group are Baki Çoku, Dritan Gjeçaj, Aldo Kobuzi, Arta Kakabuni and Lubjana Gjeçaj, according to the Italian authorities this group arranged marriages between young people who were then sent to Turkey, and then to Syria to fight for the Islamic State.
