American Albanians write to Trump about his stance on NATO

A group of American Albanians wrote a letter to the US President, Donald Trump, expressing their concern about a possible deterioration of the relations between USA and their traditional European allies.
The letter, signed by the New York City Councillor, Mark Gjonaj, and representatives of 10 US-Albanian organizations, referred to the comments made by Trump on Fox News, when the POTUS questioned whether they would support article 5 of the NATO treaty for mutual defense, which mentions Montenegro and Albania as well.
The letter says that the response of the US President shows an essential lack of understanding of the history of the region and of the priceless role that the USA had for preserving peace.
“If you speak to an Albanian, in the USA or outside, you would notice a deep feeling of love and respect for the USA, for their role as leaders of the free world. The agreement for collecting protection has kept the world away from another World War”, the letter adds.
