The meeting of EU and US ambassadors with the Democratic Party MPs
lasted for two hours. Each party explained their position for the
justice reform.
“I heard there have been In the past 25 years, we have worked together to achieve huge things, the end of communism, the victory of the Kosovo War and the NATO accession. The Democratic Party has played a decisive role in the post-communist history of Albania. It is important for this tradition to continue with the justice reform”, said the US Ambassador, Donald Lu.
“It was a useful and constructive discussion. I think that we have explained some matters that were not clear before. The most important thing is that we have agreed to be good partners and allies, for the best of Albania”, said the EU ambassador, Romana Vlahutin.
The democrats said they are ready to conclude the reform, but, different from two days ago, the opposition leader did not mention the electoral reform as a condition for the justice one.
“The only condition of the DP is to not justice to be captured by politics”, Basha said.
Sources confirm for Top Channel that the US Ambassador has told Democratic Party MPs that judges and prosecutors should not be the only ones to feel nervous, but also ministers and those who will come after them. Lulzim Basha used the word “nervous” in another speech, for several times in a few minutes.
“Certainly, there is a problem with nervousness. It was seen yesterday with the threat that Edi Rama made to the Constitutional Court. Edi Rama is nervous”, Basha said.
When will the reform be voted? This question has no final answer.
“It is difficult. It has taken a long time and it may take longer. What matters in the end is quality, not the time it took”, Basha said.
