“Albania has one of the least explored coasts in the world”, starts the Spanish Edition of National Geographic its special article dedicated to Albania.
The article focuses on relics of WWII ships, and it notes that the Albanian authorities are passing legislations for protecting underwater heritage.
“Saranda’s coasts hide dozens of amphora, sunk with ships coming even from Northern Africa, the fourth century a.d, proving the trade exchanges between the Adriatic and Northern Africa’s coasts. The sunken ships are still visible, merged with the seabed, while others have been preserved very well, such as the remains of the Italian MV Probitas, which sank during WWII”, the article writes.
