Albanians and foreigners remain stranded at the Kakavija greek crossing due to obstacles in the online system

The crossing with Greece in Kakavija has been suspended from this morning for passengers from Albania, in accordance with a new measures protocol by Greek government.

The reason is the malfunction of the online site that enables a new online application for crossing for Greek citizens and naturalized ones.

Citizens in the long queues early in the morning said they found it impossible to apply because the site does not allow it yet. The Greek side has asked the Albanian not to allow the passage to Greece for any citizen until the system starts functioning.

The new form called Passenger Locator Form is considered by the Greek authorities as a key element for further travel in Greece.

There is currently no waiting vehicle presence in Kakavija.

Most of those heading for Greece are residents of southern areas that were previously allowed to cross.
