Albanian sign language branch is opened for the first time at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

The second round of registrations at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​in the Albanian capital Tirana continues until Monday, when all students in the country will start the new academic year 2024-2025.

Esmeralda Kromidha, dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​speaks for Top Channel about the new academic year: “So far we have about 300 enrollments in Bachelor and 300 enrollments in Master Programs. The most popular are English, German, Italian and French languages.

“A new program at the Bachelor’s level that was supposed to start this year, and which was recently approved by the Ministry of Education and Sports, is a program in French Sign Language and Albanian Sign Language. This program aims to train specialists in the French language and culture and Interpreters in the Albanian Sign Language”.

“The labor market today needs people who know different languages ​​to work in the field of Tourism, Culture, Management, International Relations. Of course, there will always be a need for foreign language teachers.

“In the face of technological developments, the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​is also adapting by working to offer the Language and Technology program, i.e. Artificial Intelligence. In this way, students who want to study in the field of Technology but also integrating Foreign Languages ​​will be welcome”.
