The Albanian government said it would turn to international markets to buy fuel to avoid supply disruptions in the country.
The news was announced today at the meeting of the Energy Committee due to the growing concerns about the increase in the price on the stock exchanges, but also in the domestic market.
In addition to concerns about oil reserves, the country is also facing an energy crisis due to a lack of rainfall. Despite the situation, the Minister of Energy Belinda Balluku assured the citizens that there will be no power outages or increase in electricity bills.
Faced with rising costs for the purchase of imported energy, Balluku appealed to entities to pay up their electricity bills, with particular emphasis on water utilities, as the biggest debtors to the Electricity Distribution Operator.
