The first report of Frontex for 2015, secured by Top Channel, shows that
1847 Albanians have requested asylum only in the first weeks of this
year, 236% more than the same period of one year ago.

1668 have applied for international protection in Germany, 106 in Sweden, 52 in Belgium, 15 in Switzerland, 2 in Luxembourg.

According to the analysis of this European agency based in Warsaw, the sudden increase of Albanian applicants in Germany has increased the number of general applications in this country, which has 90% of the applications by Albanians and Serbs. Sweden comes second, with a 48% increase compared to December 2014.

Despite the increased number of Albanian asylum seekers, FRONTEX says that Serbia keeps leading the list with more requests, followed by Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia and Montenegro.

Third observation, neutral expectancies:

“During this time, the number of Albanians has increased with 93% compared to December 2014, the second period reported for the high number of Albanian asylum seekers. Montenegrins had a higher percentage, although their figures were 15 times lower, compared to Albanians. Despite the modest growth, Serbs still lead the list. Germany is the first destination for Serbs”

While 1847 people applied, 327 people were returned to Tirana, making Albania the number one country, with half of the total persons from Balkan who have been returned.

Luxembourg is the only country that has not returned anyone by force, only 8 with their own will. Only one person has left Germany on his own will, while 75 others were returned by force. Switzerland ahs the highest number of returned people, 84 through force and 11 other have left on their will. Sweden is ranked second for the highest number of people who have returned.

Another negative observation in the analysis of Frontex is that durin 2014 there have been more erquests for asylum than durin 2013, and that Albanians lead for 2015.

Observation 4, negative expectancies:

“The five most affected EU countries are those associated with the Schengen agreement. They treated 5539 applications so far. This number is 37% higher compared to the same period of 2014.

Only Macedonians and Bosnians had fewer asylum seekers in 2014, compared to the same year. Luxembourg reported lower figures of the same period. Sweden treated 51% more requests, Switzerland only 9% more, and Belgium only 5% more.

The five mostly affected European countries reported 765 Albanian citizens who were repatriated in total for 2015. This is a very low number compared to the repatriation, which is sad, according to the organization.

Germany has reported a similar number in the past year, but reduced the norm from 1 repatriation from 12 in total, to 1 repatriation from 17 in total.

For 2015, 64% of the citizens have been returned.

The European Agency for Management, Cooperation and Action in the The document secured by Top Channel is drafted for the European Commission as part of the monitoring mechanism established by the EU in 2010, after the visa liberalization with five Balkan countries.
