Albania-Kosovo power line connection complete. Rama: “Historic event”

The 400 kV project that connects Albania and Kosovo through a power line bridge, funded by the German KFW Bank, is complete.

The cost of the project in the Albanian side is 29 million EUR and was implemented by the contracting company, Energoinvest.

“This is an important day for our common integration path, starting from energy and continuing through all sectors. We have done a lot together, so that we can approach every sector to our legal and administrative approach”, PM Rama declared.

The Prime Minister added that we are creating the basic premise for a joint energy market.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said that this project is equal to the “Nation’s Road” for its importance and it fulfills promises for a stable energy system.

The Albanian Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, said that next year they will start building the interconnection with Macedonia.

“The energy sector is giving signs of consolidation and revival”, Gjiknuri said.

The Kosovo-Albania 400 kV line is 241 kilometers long, 151 of which in the territory of Albania and 90 km in the territory of Kosovo. The first segment, from Tirana to Vau I Dejes, is 80 kilometers long. The second segment is 71 km long.
