Albania celebrates “Teacher’s Day” on March 7, when the first Albanian language school opened 136 years ago

March 7 is celebrated today in all schools of the country, where festive activities are organized in recognition of the work of teachers in educating the new generation.

Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, send her congratulations on March 7 with a video of schoolchildren from different schools in the country, including those with special abilities.

The video was made with the contribution of students from the Institute of Visually Impaired Students, Institute of deaf Students, Durrës “Jan Kukuzeli” Artistic School, Ballet School and “Qemal Stafa” Gymnasium in Tirana.

The holiday comes on the day when 136 years ago in the southeastern city of Korça, the First School in the Albanian language was opened, an event of culminating importance for the efforts of the Albanian people to preserve their own language and alphabet.
