Albania and Macedonia sign memorandum for gas pipeline between both countries

The construction of the Elbasan-Bitola 400 Power Line is about to start. In the meanwhile, Albania and Macedonia are taking the first measures for a connection with a gas pipeline system.
After the meeting between the Albanian Energy Minister, Damian Gjiknuri, and his counterpart Kreshnik Bekteshi, the Director of the Albanian state-owned gas company, (Albgaz), Arber Avrami, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Director of the Macedonian Energy Agency, Bajram Rexhepi.
Minister Gjiknuri said that both countries are now towards a final phase for the construction of the 400 kV inter-connection, an example that needs to be followed with gas as well.
Minister Bekteshi said that Albania and Macedonia are part of the Community of Energy, which gives them many obligations that can be fulfilled only through concrete steps.
