Blerina Bala is the new leader of the municipality of Himara, after securing 15 votes in favor today in the Municipal Council of the southern coastal city in the center of electoral debates after the arrest of the winner of the local elections Fredi Beleri in May.
The meeting to appoint the new leader came after both Beleri, and the last holder of the post, Jorgo Goro, are in prison on corruption charges.
The new mayor Blerina Bala has been a member of the Socialist Party in power and vice president in the municipality of Himara for some time.
After the meeting, she said that the main focus will be work, in order to fulfill the goals and objectives, especially referring to the tourist season.
“First, let me say a special thank you for the trust you have given me today. In the following months, the focus of the Himar Municipality will be on work, in order to fulfill the objectives and goals, especially with reference to the tourist season. I am aware that no work is done alone, so I think that after these 10 difficult months, Himara deserves the closest cooperation and the greatest support”, said Bala after the meeting.
