Afghani girl in tears after being caught by the Albanian police: I am not a terrorist, I want a better life

6 Afghan refugees were caught by the police in the area called “Enkelana” in Pogradec.

Two families with 3 children who had traveled on foot from a refugee camp in Greece to Korça and from Korça to Pogradec.

They said that they had walked 7-8 days to reach Pogradec.

Through tears a young girl said: “I am not a terrorist. Myname is Madis, we are coming from Greece, we passed in Korça. We want to go to a better country because we want to be educated. I want to go to school, I’m very young, I need to go to school, I do not want money or food. The police have caught us but we are not terrorists.”

One of the teenage girls wanted to leave for Tirana to be with her mother.

They said they were trying to escape to a better country in the EU.

They were picked up by the border police and transported to Korça for further proceedings.
