Tonight in Lac in northeastern Albania was held the handover ceremony of 522 apartments for families whose houses were demolished by the November 2019 earthquake, thanks to the generosity of Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama and senior government officials.
Turkish Ambassador Murat Ahmet Yörük, who was present at the event, said that the handover of these apartments proves the partnership between Albania and Turkey.
“With the directives of President Erdogan, all our institutions were mobilized for the friendly Albanian people. In December 2020, just one year after the November earthquake, we held the inauguration of the works of these flats and apartments. A year later, this giant project was completed, as 522 apartments were built at a cost of 42 million euros. The construction time has been a record especially in difficult the conditions of the global epidemic”, said Ambassador Yörük.
Today during a meeting with Albanian Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikolla in Ankara, President Erdogan said he would personally come to Lac in the coming weeks to see this newly built neighborhood in the city.
