The investigations for the murder of Dritan Lamaj are raising the first
suspicions about the connections of the businessman suspected for the
murder of the former Albanian high rank police officer.

Photos published three days after the murder showing the defendant in a very friendly dinner with the main four Chiefs of the Albanian police are shocking for the officers.

Defendant Arben Frroku is seen together with Agron Kulicaj, General Vice Chief of the State Police; Director of the Department against Organized Crime and Director of the Department of Serious Crimes.

On the same photo is seen Muhamet Rrumbullaku, vice General Chief of the State Police for Public Safety; Nikolon Bala, Director of Special Police Operations; and Tonin Vocaj, chief of the Open Crimes Directory.

Although the photos don’t have a date stamped on them, they make it clear that the Police directors were very well connected with the suspect.

This will cast shadows of doubt on the case, especially after the victim had reported Arben Frroku several times for threatening his life, but they weren’t taken in consideration.

Non official information suggests that not only the victim did not receive protection by the state, but his requests were not taken in consideration even by the Tirana Prosecution, which never started an investigation.

Lamaj was relieved from his duty for allegedly using violence against the businessman who is now suspected for his murder. This will be part of the investigations to verify if the friends of the suspected businessman have influenced in his dismissal.

Non official sources say that the defendant was close to prosecutors who helped him avoid prosecution after the reports made by the former Chief of Police.

Lamaj’s phone tabulates will be taken as evidence, after he had already made them available to the Interior Inspection Service.

This department was full aware of the threats, but in their reports they have favoured the businessman.
