According to the Institution of Statistics, INSTAT, 1,230,000 persons in Albania are employed, 34% of them self-employed, and 44.5% hired.
This means that small businesses are of great importance. 28.7% of women and 15.9% of men are self-employed in family businesses.
This means that women have 1.8 more chances to be unpaid workers within a family business.
According to INSTAT, Albania is still strongly related to agriculture, which has employed 37.4% of the population that is able to work.
