300 oil workers on strike

More than 300 employees of the oil company “Stema&Oil” have started a
strike yesterday, since they haven’t been paid for three months.

Contacted by “Shqip” Newspaper, the workers complained for the working conditions, the lack of financial training and for not being paid.

“We are 320 workers that have started a 24 hours long strike, because the Company has not paid us for the last three months”, says Dilaver Xhelili, chairman of the Union Group.

He adds that the situation has become unbearable and the company leaders give no hope for resolving the situation.

“They held a meeting yesterday and told us that the ‘Stream&Oil’ is making investments, hence they’re spending more than they’re gaining. But this motivation doesn’t stand, because the company has sold 10.000 tons of oil in the last days and we haven’t been paid”, Xhelili declared.

He warned that next week will start another strike that will last until the company will sign a collective agreement for the wages and make a transparent concession.
