A synchronized operation of law enforcement agencies in Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and France dealt a powerful blow to an Albanian-speaking organized crime network.

25 people ended up in handcuffs from the flash operation where around 600 police officers were engaged. The cross-border crackdown was the result of a complex investigation, Saxony-Anhalt Land Police reported, adding that investigations had been under way since 2017, by Belgian local police in Anvers in collaboration with the Belgian Federal Police, the Spanish Civil Guard and the Dutch police.

The suspects are thought to be part of a wider drug network between South America and Europe through container ships. The drugs were smuggled into containers and distributed throughout Europe with vehicles equipped with sophisticated hidden shelves.

The group alleged to also manage cannabis plantations in Spain and Germany, where they cultivated and distributed the drug in other European countries, states among other things the Saxony Anhalt Police press-release.

Is also states that 30 properties were seized, along with six cannabis plantations, 60,000 euros, numerous means of communication as well as weapons and ammunition, in an operation assisted by Europol.
