Tirana Municipality has started reconstruction operation on 200 schools in the city with works expected to be finished until September. Mayor Erion Veliaj monitored proceedings and spoke to reporters from “Fan Noli” school.
“We are working on water supply and cleaning, and educational infrastructure, in order for this city to have healthy pupils thanks to these sports terrains too”, he said.
Within autumn 20 new schools will also be constructed, Veliaj said, with the purpose to eliminate afternoon school classes. “We have demanded to the Educational Directorate to solve the problem of overcrowded schools while others have not enough pupils registered, but will consider even adding space to existing schools in order that schools with a better reputation to have the possibility to meet high demands. We have also picked the spots where 20 new school will be constructed and will demand from investors to make a full investment now and spread payments in the years to come”, Veliaj added.
