2 more people succumb to coronavirus in Albania

The health ministry said today that two more people died because of the coronavirus in Albania, bringing the death toll to 15.

“Two patients died at the infectious hospital in Tirana, confirmed with COVID-19. A 77-year-old man, I.B., from Kavaja, confirmed with COVID-19, who had been under treatment for 2 weeks at the infectious hospital and died unexpectedly of a myocardial infarction. The 77-year-old suffered from other diseases such as diabetes mellitus, chronic renal insufficiency and cardiac insufficiency.

“We also lost a 69-year man from Hassi, confirmed with COVID-19, who has been treated for 8 days in the Infectious Disease hospital. His condition worsened in the last 3 days and was in respiratory management (intubated). The patient was in poor health during this time and despite the efforts of the doctors, failed to survive.

“The number of citizens who lost their lives as result of COVID-19 in Albania is now 15.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection expresses condolences to the families of the deceased and urges citizens to respect rigorously the measures of social distancing and isolation, as they are decisive in curbing the spread of COVID-19”, stated the health authorities in their statement.
