Two people lost their lives, while many others are in hospital from a mass poisoning in Deçan, Kosovo.

It is suspected that the cause of the poisoning may be the water supply, but microbiological analyzes are still awaited to come to a conclusion.

Mayor of Deçan, Bashkim Ramosaj, casts doubts that the event may be intentional, while saying that this is the second time in a month that such poisonings occur.

“It is the second time in a month that the same scene is being reported which makes us think that the event could be intentional. The prosecution and investigators are dealing with the incident. If microbiological analyzes reveal harm from the water, political, legal and administrative punitive measures will be taken for the responsible persons”, he said.

The cases of poisoning started two days ago, when people from the villages of Irzniq, Prilep and Lugu i Branit, sought help in the hospital, after the appearance of poisoning symptoms. Residents have expressed that the water supply network is depreciated and has many problems.
