Albania needs to invest approximately 2 billion Euros for the next ten years in the electric energy sector with all the money coming from the budget.

According to the energy strategy approved by the government, this is one of the scenarios, while the other sees investments extended by 2030, for over 2.5 billion euros.

In both scenarios, the bulk of the money, about three-quarters, will go to electricity production, while distribution and transmission will have a smaller support.

Meanwhile, 5.5 billion euros in investments will be made in the entire energy sector, including oil and hydrocarbons. But unlike in the electric energy case, oil and natural gas investments will be privately funded.

According to the strategy, Albania must save up to 15% of the energy it uses by 2030. The greenhouse gas reduction is projected by 11.5%, while natural gas use should consist of 20% of total energy sources.
