1 billion EUR project ends with four new roads

The government had initially planned to build a series of public roadsd, but the 1 billion EUR border was achieved with just 4 national roads, two of which were already signed. Two others are undergoing.

Besides the Orikum Dukat, the three other works are the Arber Road, the Thumana Kashar and the Milot-Balldren. All of these roads will be built by private operators and the government will have to pay them through installments.

Private operators will be paid for 13 years, and the cost of these roads goes beyond 1 billion EUR. The Ministry of Finances and the Ministry of Infrastructure have decided to not accept other concessions that are paid by the state budget.

But this doesn’t mean that the government will not give other roads with concession. Sources from the Ministry of Infrastructure say that the concessions need to continue, but the new projects will all be paid by the citizens who cross their tolls, not the state budget.

The government will take under this formula the Tirana-Durres highway, after it will be rebuilt by a private company.
