The government has taken some important decisions that have to do with the business and consumers.

Prime Minister Berisha declared that the Albanian government will remove the 10% tax for all imports in clothes and foot wear. This means that the products that will come from abroad will be 10% cheaper, since the merchants will not pay the custom fee anymore. With this movement, the wallet of the Albanian state is 1 billion ALL thinner, but Prime Minister Berisha says that the removal of this tax will add other revenues.

“We will take this decision because our economic model functions, makes us afford this decision. We believe that this 10% tax removal, or the 1 billion ALL that were going to enter the government’s budget, will be more useful in the accounts of the private businessmen, will create more jobs, will improve working conditions, will enable more investments and workers wages will be higher”, Berisha declared.

Another custom tax that is being removed is that of imported cars, which was approved in the government meeting together with some changes in the circulation tax. But different to some analyzes which suggest that by adding this to the fuel taxes, the revenues will be higher, Prime Minister Sali Berisha gave another argument.

“This is vital, and it is not totally for the budget, but also for protecting the environment. We must be clear that we must do everything for the environment. By protecting the environment, we protect our life. Therefore, the carbon tax will be used for planting fruit trees. The circulation and registration taxes will be restructured, but the local government will continue to keep 20% of these taxes from the budget of the state”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister guaranteed that right after the constitution of all mandates of the local elections, he will start a dialogue with the local administration for a further fiscal decentralization.
