The Albanian Parliament started its eighth session of the seventh
legislature by voting the new head of the High Institution of
Declaration and Audit of Assets. This post was vacated by Adriatik
Lalla, after he was elected Prosecutor General.

With 70 votes in favour and 67 against, after the Socialist Movement for Integration MPs voted once again against the majority, despite being on the same coalition, Zana Xhuka was able to secure the majority of votes against Shkelqim Ganaj.

SMI parliament members declared for Top Channel that they were in favour of the other candidate who had been working in the institution for many years, hence they voted against.

This is the last session for this legislation, before the elections of June. The Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, held an opening speech which focused on the passing of the integration laws.

Prime Minister Berisha was also present, but he didn’t hold any speech, despite the debates with the Socialist MPs, who asked him in an interpellation for the recent privatization issues.
