The former Chief of Military Secret Service, Ylli Zyla, was introduced
this Monday morning as the new Commander of the Military Police.
Zyla was accused by the Albanian opposition of being involved in illegal arm trade. The main accusation from th opposition was conflict of interest.
According to the accusations, Zyla’s wife holded shares in two companies licensed by the Ministry of Defense to export weapons. Zyla was obliged to resign after these accusations spread out.
But after his resignation, the Ministry of Defense was involved in another accusation from the opposition, that of using several million EUR appliances bought with the Ministry’s fund to spy on the opposition.
While the opposition is waiting for a Parliamentary Inspection of this Ministry, Minister Arben Imami appointed Zyla as Chief of the Military Police.
