Eugen Wollfarth, head of OSCE presence in Albania, was very cautious when he was asked whose fault it was for not fulfilling OSCE ODIHR recommendations.
The head of OSCE commented on the voters’ list controversy and gave his opinion on the opposition complaints about the new residential transfers in Tirana for election purposes.
“The political climate after the last elections was not constructive. There should have been taken measures on final results. This situation has no time for Election Code amendments. I cannot say whose fault it is. The Election Code issue involved everyone. The right time for Election Code amendments is after these elections, before the next general elections. I am convinced that this is something that can be achieved”, Wollfarth declared.
The ambassador greeted the decision taken by Top Channel for not running the videos that where edited by the electoral headquarters of each party.
“I would abstain for the videos prepared by the electoral headquarters. The campaign should be followed by the journalists. It is different when the videos are sent as electoral spots. The parties should not pressure TV channels on these videos. The decision taken by Top Channel is right and you should keep going like this. If you need our help, you’ll have it”, Wollfarth emphasized.
Wollfarth also commented on the electoral campaign incidents, saying that these events do not serve the purpose of an honest election process.
