The OSCE ambassador in Tirana, Eugen Wollfarth, held a meeting at the waste collection site in Bushat, from where he declared that the political parties should join and help Albania’s integration.

The OSCE ambassador inspected the work progress in this site and when
asked about the current political situation in the country, he declared
that the Albanian political parties need to dialogue, and this dialogue
should be held in the parliament.

“All main discussions should be made in the Parliament. Some of these laws require qualified majority, and for this is needed the participation of the opposition. The best way for this is to come together in Parliament. They must move towards dialogue and integration. The political parties should come out of their trenches and make something for development and EU integration”, Wollfarth declared.

Asked about the fact that the Albanian President, Bamir Topi, did not decree the law of urban waste, Wollfarth declared that it is a democratic process and there was space for improving things.

“This is a democratic process and these steps are part of this process. This is an opportunity for reviewing things in order to make improvements. Albania has a beautiful nature and steps like the creation of this collector are important for protecting this beauty”, Wollfarth declared.

Although Bushati’s waste material collection site was inaugurated by Prime Minister Berisha some time ago, an investment of 500 million, by the Albanian government, the Shkoder Municipality cannot process its waste in this area, due to a disagreement with the Bushat commune, which has placed a tax of 7 euroton. The Shkoder Municipality says that this is unaffordable, because it would take 13rd of the annual budget.
