Opposition leader Lulzim Basha in today’s conversation with journalists focused on the country’s economy, saying that that is the main victim of the government.
“The economic pandemic is rapidly replacing pandemic COVID-19. It is a problem that is growing at an alarming rate and is affecting all Albanian families, causing insecurity, poverty and unemployment, especially those who are more vulnerable and economically disadvantaged. Further on Basha noted that people’s poverty before the pandemic, is now deepening. “Unfortunately, the behavior of the Rama government during the pandemic has made them even poorer, while it is pushing Albania towards an even deeper economic crisis” – said the leader of the opposition.
He added:
“This is a concern that we presented from the first day, when we asked for measures to protect the population and to provide adequate health care in coping with the pandemic, from testing numbers to the treatment of patients. Our demands were based on a realistic analysis of the situation in the country, both before the pandemic and before the November 26 earthquake.
“While we have only lost over 60,000 jobs in these 8 weeks due to the total lack of care for people, the economy and the country, according to tax agencies, the figure could be twice as high. Let’s take Kosovo, through formalization it has lost only 6 thousand jobs during these two months. Once again, only according to tax figures, we have lost 10 times more, 61 thousand jobs”, said the leader of the opposition.
