The uninterrupted snow has created fatalities in Kosovo. While the
authorities are looking for other residents who have disappeared in the
Restelica village, which was hit by a severe avalanche, many other areas
have been blocked.

Despite the difficult situation, the National Council of Security did not declare the emergency situation.

“All our capacities are available for the citizens, in order to guarantee transportation, to avoid isolation, to guarantee medical services, power supply, heating and other means for confronting the emergent situation”, Prime Minister Thaci declared.

The Minister of Kosovo Special Forces, Agim Ceku, declared that there are five other people isolated from snow near Restelice. They have been able to contact with this people, who appear to be in good health.

“The family is seeking help in food and covers. Five members of this family have been isolated by the snow, and it has been impossible for us to reach them. The only way is to contact them through KFOR, right after the weather conditions will be improved”, Ceku declared.

Police notified that there have been difficulties with the vehicle circulation in highways and regional roads, while many others are completely blocked. The number of incidents has mounted up to 10, only in the last 24 hours, but fortunately there are no victims.
