The Tirana Municipal Council must take the decision for separating the wastes in three different bins after 2013.

The Environment Ministry has created a strategic plan not only for the division of the waste materials in the source, but also for the quantity of wastes that should be recycled in the next years throughout the country.

“Until 2017, 25% to 45% of the packages will be recycled and we expect to reach 55-70% until 2019. The wastes will divided in three separate bins for glass, paper and plastics”, declared Vladimir Bezhani, responsible of the Waste Management Sector at this Ministry.

The recent government decision has halved the tax that the recycling companies should pay for the packages, another way for subventioning the businesses that are working with the waste collection in the Albanian territory. On the other hand, since October 2012, inorganic packages will not be allowed to be recycled.

“Tax for packages that will be produced by the generation of from the plastic wastes will be halved from 100 to 50 ALL per kg. This will stimulate producers to recycle the plastic waste”, Bezhani declared.

Bezhani explained that it is very important for businesses that recycle glass, aluminum and other wastes to create subventions for the consumers, so that they can send them to a collection point. This has been applied in many countries and has resulted successful.
