With the argument that the Prosecution has not violated any human rights
of the defendants Shpetim Gjika, Mayor of Vlore, Judge Arben Micko
rejected the request of his lawyers for suspending the case.
The Prosecutors claimed that the construction of two buildings in Vlore was decided without discussing them at the Council of Territory Regulation.
The Prosecution says that this violation has been realized by falsifying documents, and that they have evidence about this. The next meeting was decided for Monday. Gjika declared that the presence of the media would show how this investigation was manipulated.
“I want to thank the media for being dedicated to make this trial transparent, a transparence that is not good only for the public, but also to show how this process has been manipulated by the Prosecution. The Prosecution needs time to explain what they have established for more than one year and a half”, Gjika declared.
Trial against Mziu postponed
The trial against the Kamza Mayor, Xhelal Mziu, has been postponed once again.
The reason for this was the absence of one of the defendants, the Director of Taxes at this Municipality, Bujar Loshi, who had filed a complaint for postponing the session, since he had health problems.
Present in the room were the legal director, Altin Hoti, and Mayor Xhelal Mziu, who said that he would be present in all sessions. Mziu is accused of power abuse and abuses with taxes, but he claims that this is a political issue.
“This accusation raised against me and the Prosecution is an unfounded accusation, as it has been seen by specialists and a huge mass of people. There are no legal foundations, besides a political background. I am committed to respect the Prosecution and I have been present in every session”, Mziu declared.
