Some Italian citizens living in the Albanian coastal city of Vlora have joined the ruling Socialist Party and held today a meeting with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
The latter promised to grant them Albanian passports and ‘why not in the future become members of the Parliament’.
“We have come to this now, before it was only the Albanians in Italy orGreece thatwanted to join the party, but now I am sure you will do, and why not some you be in parliament one day, because those who do stay here long enough will get the citizenship. Normally at first you were not considered visionaries but e bit crazy. But little madness does not hurt anyone, it is enough for that to be healthy and positive.
“As the leader of your party who speaks to his members, I tell you that in our party the principle is that the chairman is first among the equals. If I sometimes fall short of this promise I ask in advance for forgiveness and hope to have your understanding “, said Rama among other things.
