The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, mentioned once again the
five priorities that Albania must fulfill before starting the
negotiations.
“The five priorities are clear, especially as regards the legal aspects for the fight against organized crime and cultivation of cannabis”, Vlahutin said.
She also spoke about the Judiciary Reform and the way how it will work in the upcoming days.
“Albania is having a nice moment right now. The Judiciary Reform, which was the least complex and least demanding, is ready to be implemented with the Vetting Law, which will start in less than two weeks. The creation of the new institutions, such as the Special Prosecution, which focuses on corruption and organized crime, will hopefully start by the end of the years”, she added.
However, the EU Ambassador mentioned an unclear detail about the institutional transition period.
“The EU is looking forward for the new Parliament and government of Albania to start working, since there are some unclear details about the changes that we will have regarding EU coordination mechanisms. I will have several meetings in the days to come, so that we can understand thoroughly and agree how the European agenda is going to work and get coordinated”, Vlahutin declared.
The Vice Chairman of the National Council for Integration, Taulant Balla, spoke about cooperation with the opposition, which would help Albania’s EU integration.
“We are going to do everything possible, as a majority, to guarantee that the communication spirit which prevailed at the National Council of Integration and Integration Commission shall be a new model for the Parliamentary procedures. SP is ready to co-govern with everyone, certainly, with the opposition as well”, Taulant Balla said at the first Summer School of Integration, funded by the EU.
