The Albanian Foreign Minister, together with the Minister of Energy, are
holding an official visit in Cyprus. In a comment for Top Channel,
Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati answered to the stances expressed
earlier by the new Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, in which he
spoke about Albania and the limitations that our country needed from
Greece.

“I don’t know what’s the context of these declarations. It is easier to speak from the opposition about some things, and more difficult doing them in government. During my visit in Cyprus, I noticed some common views on the determination of the economic exclusive zones and the continental shelf. I think that Albania, same as Cyprus with their neighbor, could address any issue to the international rights, by respecting it and the positive precedents”, Bushati declared.

Bushati thinks that many issues that have been resolved between the two countries will not turn back.

“We have a process that started with the past government. We gave solutions to sensitive issues like toponyms. We have established joint commissions with the Greek side and I don’t think that we will have a new approach on problems that are considered old”, Bushati declared.

Bushati met with the Greek Speaker of the Chamber of Representatives, Iannakis Oomirou, and respective counterparts. The intensification of the mutual relations and the finding of possible methods for increasing cooperation was the focus of his meeting with the Greek Foreign Minister, Kasulides.
