Victim’s brother: My sister was raped

The 22-year-old girl that was seriously injured in Himara, was sent to
Austria for a specialized treatment. She is now receiving medical
attention at Tirana’s Maternity after doctors discovered that she is
pregnant in her 22nd week. The girl’s family says that pregnancy is the
result of a sexual abuse during the time she was recovered in the
Viennese hospital.
Her older brother, Gazmend Peci, declared on Top Channel that their sister stayed at the Austrian hospital from May, when the accident occurred, and until October 2012.
Doctors say that the child was conceived in September, when the patient was accompanied at the hospital only by her sister.
The victim’s brother excluded all accusations against the Kosovo family that contacted them and invited his two sisters once a week for dinner and returned them to hospital.
The 22-year-old has still problems walking and constant memory losses. She needs help even for the basic daily actions, and often is not aware of what happens around. The family took the pregnancy news on January 15th, when the girl complained for constant pains in the belly.
“She doesn’t remember anything. She needs someone to follow her all the time. Recently she had been complaining about a pain in her belly, and that’s how we found out that she was pregnant. I felt very bad. This is horrible”, says her brother.
The director of the Mbreteresha Geraldine maternity, Halim Kosovo, says that the pregnancy is proceeding normally. He confirmed the brother’s declarations that the girl has neurological problems.
The Health Minister, Vangjel Tavo, declared that there is an ongoing investigation.
“This is under investigation and we when we will have a clear conclusion, we will make it public”, Tavo declared.
The relatives asked for an abort, since the girl was raped and has no physical or mental capabilities to raise a child. If the horrible bus accident that took 13 lives of young students wasn’t enough, the 22-year-old has now to endure another psychological trauma.
