The Special College of Appeal is reviewing the case handed over by the Public Commission, which requires a vetting procedure for the former Prosecutor General, Adriatik Llalla.

This process had been interrupted by the Independent Commission of Qualification (ICQ) after the former Prosecutor General gave up his right to be appointed Judge of Appeal, and consequently was removed from the entire judicial system.

The verdict was taken by the judge panel of the Independent Commission of Qualification, led by Roland Ilia and members Pamela Qirko and Olsi Komci. But this result is the same as the one given by another ICQ judge panel, which interrupted the vetting process of Judge Besnik Imeraj as well, who also resigned.

The option to resign in order to evade the Vetting Process was created by the Constitutional Court during an interpretation of the Vetting Law.

The cases of judicial system members who resign or who are inadequate are then archived, but if the Prosecution demands, they can undergo criminal prosecution.

Lalla’s resignation caused an immediate reaction of the US Ambassador, who reminded on Twitter that no one can evade justice.
