Vetting Law, citizens gather at Independent Commission, seeking justice

The Independent Qualification Commission published a form through which citizens will be able to give information about judges and prosecutors who have hidden their wealth.

Although the form is very clear and plenty of citizens rushed at the Commission offices, no one has actually reported corruption, but they want their judiciary cases to be reviewed.

Gezim Martincanaj lost his seven-year-old son in a car accident, but the Prosecution suspended the investigation and no one was sentenced. His case has been dragged around since 2011. He traveled from Shkoder to the Vetting Commission to make a report, because he is certain that the man who killed his son has paid the Prosecutors. He has no information, though, and wants the Commission to make the inquiry.

But the Independent Commission doesn’t review court verdicts and doesn’t bring justice either. This is just one of the new institutions that will vet judges and prosecutors.
