“I am Albanian” is the title of the exhibition opened in Tirana and dedicated to the Diaspora on the International Day of Emigration.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, declared that this exhibition comes as a sign of gratitude to all Albanians who have decided to organize their lives in other countries, for various reasons.
“Emigration has shaped our country as a cosmopolitan nation. It may be a thing of smaller countries to always be travelling, but I believe that today we are at a situation in which emigrants are a valuable asset to the country”, the Mayor said.
Veliaj mentioned that the government has increased its attention to the Diaspora by creating a specific ministry, and by promoting economic diplomacy.
“The biggest patriotic act to your country today is to invest and to make sure that the economy keeps growing here. What I like after the Diaspora Summit is that most of the members and activists of the Diaspora have turned into marketing agents for attracting new investments”, Veliaj said.
