The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and the rapporteur of Albania at the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein, inaugurated the Multifunctional Community Center that was opened near the Bregu i Lumit, Tirana, offering social services to 170 families in need and 300 children aged 4 to 15 years.
This is the third building raised by the Tirana Municipality with EU support, after the construction of the “Ardian Klosi” school and of a kindergarten.
Mayor Veliaj said that this centre will encourage the development of children through entertainment and professional education. He thanked the European institutions for their important contribution.
The European Parliament Member, Knut Fleckenstein, said that this centre will help young people in need. “I am happy you invited me here. I am glad that the EU gave some money that you can use because politicians don’t always give money. Secondly, the Mayor and the EU are doing this because we want you to grow up strong and wise. I want you to promise me that when you grow up you will contribute to make this country a better place”, Fleckenstein told the children.
