The import of used vehicles was halved during the first four months of the year, influenced by the government’s decision which banned the entrance of cars older than 10 years.
This order stayed in effect only for two months, but it is not the only reason why Albanians bought fewer cars this year.
Official data show that the import of new vehicles has dropped as well. From January to April, Albania imported only 789 new vehicles, or 20% less than the same period of one year ago.
The sale of new vehicles is an important indicator of the economic situation.
