The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, considered this government meeting as the meeting of major reforms.
The first decision was the removal of VAT for a great number of imported goods used in agriculture and fishing industries. The main goal is encouraging production and reducing employment, as two safe ways to face the global and regional crisis.
“Today we have a more complete list. If anything has remained outside, it’s just a bureaucratic matter. By completing the new VAT reductions for tools and idustrial goods, we think that we are encouraging inciting in Albania”, Berisha declared.
Government: Property price, equal for buildings and parks
The next reform was for the Urban Law. Berisha declared that among other things, one of the main reforms is the equalization of land prices for apartment buildings and parks. The current law makes owners who sell their land for buildings richer than those who sell it for parks.
“All land owners will be paid equally, regardless the new destination of that land. This principle will remove all pressures and corruption”, Berisha declared.
According to Berisha, different from the difficult reforms of 2006-2007 which according to him were the ones that made the world crisis easier in Albania, this reform will put the country in the correct path.
