“Vangjush Mio” robbed

Around 60 paintings were stolen from the “Guri Madhi” Art Gallery in
Korce. 30 of them belong to the painter Vangjush Mio, while the rest are
painting of the best Korca painters in the last century.
Specialists say that a Mio painting costs from 10.000 to 30.000 USD. It remains unknown how many paintings are missing exactly, but the Directory says that they have started the inventory.
“The gallery employee is new and the one who has made the inventory for the last 10 years refused to hand over the figures. We established a working group for the inventory. According to the last inventories, there has been no problem with the artworks”, declared Vladimir Topi, director of the “Vangjush Mio” cultural center.
The gallery has around 800 artworks, most of which come from well known korca painters. The gallery was not stolen even in 1907, because it was guarded properly and nothing has ever been stolen.
The police has started the investigation.
